Product Description

After years of either just adding blades or making handles that vibrate, King of Shaves is delighted to introduce genuine innovation and choice with Hyperglide, our “revolutionary” new system razor!

Hyperglide features a unique patented superhydrophilic self-lubricating cartridge that creates its own slippery HydroGel over the entire front shaving surface when it comes into contact with water, delivering amazing shave glide, comfort and closeness.

This amazing innovation was originally developed by a UK university tech spin-out for use in the medical device industry to aid the easy insertion of catheters into arteries with minimal invasive friction. After four years of research and development the Hyperglide “super water loving smart-cartridge” makes messy lube strips (a feature of all men’s system razor cartridges since 1976) instantly obsolete.

You simply “just add water” to activate the HydroGel for incredible all-over glide and we recommend King of Shaves Shaving Oils, Gels and Serums are used in partnership with Hyperglide for maximum enhanced shave comfort and to extend the life of the blades even further.

REDESIGNED FROM THE GROUND UP

The cartridges feature a completely redesigned open architecture 5-blade rack to help minimise clogging along with even narrower blades for increased shave comfort and precision. The innovation continues with the introduction of a detailing edge trimmer blade on the reverse of all Hyperglide cartridges allowing you to style your sideburns, beards and goatees with ease and to make trimming around the nose even easier.

Hyperglide System Razors also feature a new patented 1-push cartridge release button so you can simply ping off the old cartridge and click in the new one. The part-alloy handle is also brand new – the revised design is more robust than ever before and features a non-slip ergonomic grip along with our Bendology Technology active flex hinge that progressively holds the Hyperglide razor blades against your skin for a super close shave.

We believe this is truly the “King of Blades” so change up to the new King of Shaves Hyperglide and enjoy “The World’s Best Shave!”

AT A GLANCE

  • The unique patented Hyperglide superhydrophilic cartridge coating technology results in an unbelievably comfortable shave throughout the life of the cartridge! Lube strips are now obsolete – just add water to activate the HydroGel on the entire front face of the cartridge.
  • Patented Bendology Technology Active-Flex hinge progressively presses the Hyperglide razor blades against your skin for a super close shave. So the harder you push, the closer the shave.
  • 5 long-lasting narrower blades for precision and comfort.
  • Precision trimming blade on the rear of each cartridge allows you to trim, style and edge with ease!
  • Patented easy to use 1-push cartridge release button – simply ping off the old cartridge and click in the new one!
  • Ergonomic part alloy handle with non-slip grip.
  • Handy wall sucker and protective handle holder / blade guard also included.
  • Ideal for sensitive skin.
  • Designed and made by King of Shaves in the United Kingdom. Multiple patents granted and pending.

  1. Great design, great features but the blades are a little....meh 3 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Oct 2016

This is a wonderfully designed razor handle and the added touches with the wall sucker and travel handle are great additions to the shaving kit for a traveller. I've previously had one of these handles literally fall apart on me (probably a quality control and manufacturing issue I suspect) and the peeps here sorted me out some replacement kit quick smart. Well played chaps...
So, the shave is fantastic when the blades are sharp. Nice and smooth and only one or two passes are required to clean up nicely. However, the blades themselves are a bit hit and miss. Sometimes they're on the money and are super sharp and smooth. Other times, they're as dull as as 1970's East Germany whilst viewed from the spartan interior of a beige Trabant. You picking up what I'm putting down?
If they can sort out the quality control with regards to the blades it would be five stars all round.

  2. not what I was hoping for 3 Star Review

Posted by on 5th May 2016

good initial shave but blunts quickly. first shave I tried with KOS Shave Oil which I have used for years and was unimpressed, second shave with just water and was really impressed, third shave was blunt. New cartridge has done three shaves with water still cutting ok but will probably need to change next time

  3. A step up from the Azor 4 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Jun 2015

I tried the Azor and it really wasn't up to its competition. The Hyperglide is a different story. Firstly it looks better (I know, it shouldn't matter, but it DOES). I like the blade and handle protector too (great for travel - why don't the big guys think of this one?). As for the shave, I tried it with only water first - not bad. Very similar to the feel of the Schick Hydro 5. But the Hyperglide bends and moves with your skin; and I found the extra blade at the top better for dealing with the stubble under my nose than either Schick or Gilette. Well done!

  4. Great shave, but....... 4 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jan 2015

I enjoy a really comfortable, really close shave with this razor, but the consumer needs to be aware that the blades do not stay sharp for more than 4-5 shaves. If that's not a problem, then it's worth it. The lubricating surround works really well, and the handle seems well weighted. The design of the cartridge does make it a little harder to shave close to the nose, but I alternate with a safety razor and a Gillette Mach 3 anyway.

  5. cannot be compared to gillett or shick shavers 2 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Dec 2014

Awkward feel did not not shave well at all for me .

  6. I really like it 5 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Oct 2014

I have been using the Azor sensitive skin razor since it came out. I find this provides a much better shaving experience. I have a tough beard and this provides a nice close shave. Been using it for a week now and the blade is still OK so I will be interested to see how long it lasts. I like the weight of the handle as well...seems nicely balanced and I am not pressing as hard as I did with the Azor.

  7. Best initial shaves but become blunt far too quickly 4 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Oct 2014

Best shave I have ever had, but the fact that after about five uses, I need to replace the blade makes it too expenive

  8. Disappointed 1 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Aug 2014

I had high hopes but I was sadly disappointed. It is difficult to reach the hard to get corners, repeated strokes are required resulting in irritation or rash and it's hard to manage. I've been a Gillette G5 (powered) user (with King Of Shaves gel) for a few years and it is simply much better.

  9. fantastic 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Aug 2014

Glad I decided on this new 5 blade razor, it gives a nice close shave with very minimal irritation, I would buy again without hesitation.

  10. Not really what I expected 3 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Aug 2014

I've used the hyperglide several times since buying it and I find I need to press more firmly and go over the area several times compared to my Gillette 5 blade razor. It leaves my skin feeling sore and red and as if the hair has been ripped out, not cut off. I even tried with shaving cream but the result was the same. I do get a comparable closeness as with the Gillette but i need to try harder to obtain it. The reason for this seems to be that the ridges formed around the blades, by the lubricating surface, tend to distance the blades from the skin. I'm going to persist though and if I find a way to improve my shave experience with the hyperglide then I will post it here. The best part so far is the handy wall sucker!
